Are You 100% Sure Where You Will Spend Eternity
Did you know that the Bible says you can know that you are going to heaven? I John 5:13 says, "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." According to this verse, you can know that you have eternal life. Yet many people today do not have this assurance. They hope that they are going to heaven, or they think they will probable go to heaven, but they don't know that they are going to heaven.
So what does the Bible say about salvation, and how can we know according to the Bible that we have eternal life?
First you must understand that you are a sinner, and do not deserve to go to heaven. Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;". There is not a single person in this world that deserves to go to heaven, because we have all sinned. This puts us all on the same plain. The person that was raised in church is no further ahead than the person that was raised on the streets, we all come to God the same way. We must come to God humbly understanding that we do not deserve salvation.
Second we must understand that because we have sinned, we deserve to spend eternity in Hell. Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Revelation 20:15 says, " And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." You can be sure of your eternity either way. If you accept God's gift of salvation, you can be sure you will spend eternity in Heaven. Contrarywise, if you reject God's gift of salvation, you can be sure you will spend eternity in Hell. John 3:18 says, "He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed on the name of the only begotten Son of God."
Third you must ask God to save you. Romans 10:13 says, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." So many people miss out on salvation, because it's so simple. They want a salvation that they had a part in, but salvation is all about what Christ does for us. That's what makes it a gift. If we ask God to forgive us and save us, he will.
